Maps and writing materials will also be provided for you to record and share your recommendations.

Help the SLCBAC brainstorm the year ahead this Wednesday evening, February 29th from 5 to 8 pm, at the Salt Lake County Government Center, 2001 South State Street, Room N2003 (north building).

Salt Lake County (SLCo) relies on interested and motivated citizens to volunteer on the Salt Lake County Bicycle Advisory Committee (SLCBAC) in order to promote a greater understanding and better working relationship between bicycling advocates and County government. SLCBAC is an official Salt Lake County Board which means board members are appointed through a process that involves an application, interview, and approval by the Salt Lake County Mayor and County Council.

    Mission

To enhance the Salt Lake County bicycling experience, encourage more bicycling for both transportation and recreation, and promote a culture of responsible bicycling for the wellbeing of all citizens.

    Purpose

The Salt Lake County Bicycle Advisory Committee has two general purposes:

    1. Offer input and advice on all SLCo projects that relate to bicycles
    2. Initiate educate and outreach efforts to improve bicycling safety throughout Salt Lake County

    History

SLCBAC was originally founded in 2001 as a Salt Lake County Advisory Board. In this advisory capacity, members reviewed SLCo bicycle-related projects, including street signage and lane striping, and hosted events such as the Josie Johnson Memorial Bicycle Ride.

In 2009 Mayor Corroon directed his staff to re-structure SLCBAC so it would once again be a vibrant, productive committee. Several open houses were hosted from September-November 2009 to collect feedback from community members and SLCo employees alike.
